It is a great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 7th Congress of the International Society for Skin Imaging. In 1990 dermatologists, engineers and scientists interested in non-invasive techniques founded the International Society for Ultrasound and the Skin. As the activities broadened,
the society was renamed the International Society for Skin Imaging (ISSI). At present the ISSI is the intellectual home for basic scientists, engineers, biochemists, dermatologists,
oncologists and general physicians sharing a common interest in the assessment of the skin by non-invasive methods. The ISSI holds scientific Congresses approximately every two years.
Previous meetings have been in Bochum (Germany), Elsinore (Denmark), Modena (Italy), New Orleans (USA), Vienna (Austria) and London (England). This Washington Congress is directly
after the AAD meeting and addresses both fundamental research and development of skin imaging techniques, and the clinical impact of this research. The programme therefore covers a wide
range of topics, from elements of basic technology to applications such as telemedicine and the clinical evaluation of methods in areas such as skin tumors, inflammatory diseases and
cosmetic dermatology. The abstracts of papers presented at this Congress will be published in a special issue of the journal Skin Research and Technology, which will be provided to all
participants at the time of the Congress. Washington offers a wide range of attractions for visitors - so bring along some spare time! Do come in March 2001, to discuss the
state-of-the-art and future of the exciting field of skin imaging, and discover this fascinating city.
Yours truly, M. Fleming (President ISDIS)
Alexander Zemtsov (Past President ISDIS) Stephan El Gammal (President ISSI)
